Overexploitation and global warming threaten this biome and the benefits it provides to humanity, especially the island nations that depend on a healthy ocean for their survival and livelihoods. With this grant, the Pristine Seas team will explore, document, and conduct research over the next five years to help establish 15 new marine protected areas in the central and western Pacific Ocean.
